Objectif CO2 – EVE PROGRAM
Vitadis, road freight transporter, has a fleet of road vehicles on its own account. The CO2 Objective device makes it possible to durably reduce fuel consumption and associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The Objectif CO2 system is the only national system offering companies a global and structuring benchmark in terms of reducing greenhouse gases and air pollutants from their transport activities.
In 2010, we signed the ADEME CO2 Objective Charter: the goal was to commit over 3 years to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Vitadis transport and logistics renewed this commitment in 2019. The charter responds to growing demand from shippers for a substantial reduction in their CO2 emissions.
This charter sends very clear information to shippers since, specific to the world of transport and its specific requirements, it guarantees the commitment of the transporter to the environment.
Vitadis has appointed a CO2 project manager who happens to be our operations manager: Mr. Deloison. He manages the Objective CO2 approach, controls the data of our activities and ensures the conformity of the objectives set by the charter.
The transport sector is the second most energy consuming sector in France after the building. It represented around 34% of France’s final energy consumption in 2015. In terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, transport is the leading emitting sector with 29% of emissions in 2015.
It is essential to substantially improve the energy efficiency of road transport to achieve the objectives set in France’s low carbon national strategy. Compared to 2013, the objective in the baseline scenario is to reduce transport GHG emissions by 29% by 2030 and by at least 70% by 2050.
These results will only be achievable if all of the professional players in road transport are committed to improving their energy performance. To reach these companies, it is necessary to be as close as possible to them in the territories.
It is necessary to involve at the same time the principals (shippers and commission agents) and their transport providers that are the carriers, so that they can act individually on their own levers, but also collectively within the framework of actions collaborative.

The CO2 Objective Charter
The Objectif CO2 charter supports carriers to reduce their GHG emissions. After a self-assessment and a CO2 diagnosis, the company draws up a personalized action plan with the help of a regional project manager. She commits to act and signs a charter for 3 years.
- operational tools to assess emissions:
- key indicators to monitor progress;
- the calculation of GHG emissions in accordance with the requirements of the decree "GHG information of transport services";
- a secure digital space to assess, manage and reduce its emissions.
- a proven methodology:
- more than 60 solutions proposed in the action sheets;
- technical descriptions;
- the publication of implementation advice.
- support by regional project managers:
- support for the CO2 diagnosis;
- assistance in developing a personalized 3-year action plan;
- monitoring of progress.
Since 2008, more than 1,400 companies
(1,170 goods transport companies and 240 road passenger transport companies) have signed up for the Objectif CO2 program.
The result: a positive economic outcome!
Up to 5% FUEL SAVING by limiting the maximum speed of a vehicle to 80km / h;
up to 10% FUEL SAVING by training drivers in eco-driving.
